Vice President of Procurement
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid: 3-4 days a week in office)
Relocation: Will provide relocation assistance
Job Summary:
The Vice President of Procurement will develop and implement procurement and vendor management strategies within the Operations of the client. This role focuses on building strategic partnerships with vendors and ensuring the efficient procurement of goods and services. The VP of Procurement will lead the procurement team, optimize resource utilization, and drive the profitability and efficiency of the supply chain.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a team of professionals, ensuring a cost-effective supply chain with exceptional service levels. Foster a collaborative, high-morale team culture.
- Revenue Optimization: Drive revenue growth by recommending business model and service delivery improvements. Identify and implement margin expansion opportunities.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the lifecycle of clinical and non-clinical products, equipment, and services. Manage the end-to-end supply chain value.
- Risk Management: Accountable for managing and mitigating category complexity and risk.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with DVMs, technicians, and organizational leadership to identify, source, procure, and distribute products and services.
- Strategic Development: Ensure the correct structure, policies, internal controls, and organization are in place to execute the supply chain strategy effectively.
- Systems and Processes: Lead the development of systems, people, processes, and metrics to support the business plan.
- Continuous Improvement: Work with cross-functional teams to improve key performance indicators such as forecast accuracy, expense reduction, capacity utilization, COGS, inventory turns, and excess/obsolete inventory.
- Senior Leadership Collaboration: Collaborate with senior and executive leadership to address complex business challenges and define solutions.
- Trend Analysis and Implementation: Investigate ongoing trends and best practices, implementing them where appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Over 4 years of relevant experience in procurement, purchasing, and vendor management.
- Experience in the VetMed industry is ideal, though experience in similar multi-unit healthcare organizations is acceptable.
- Must have multi-unit experience, with the client having 400 units.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, with a focus on strategic procurement and vendor management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with various stakeholders.
