Wheeler Staffing Partners is hiring a Traveling Superintendent on behalf of our client to lead the on-site execution of large-scale commercial construction projects. This role serves as the primary field leader responsible for safety, schedule, subcontractor coordination, and quality control. Working closely with the Project Manager, the Superintendent ensures each project meets safety, schedule, and energy performance targets.
This position is ideal for a seasoned construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced, field-based environment and can manage all site activity while maintaining a high standard of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the on-site safety leader, implementing the Site-Specific Safety Plan and managing all jobsite safety protocols

Coordinate and oversee all subcontractor work, ensuring full compliance with contracts and the project schedule

Create and maintain the Project Schedule, including logic updates, recovery planning, and pull planning sessions
-
Supervise site quality assurance, enforce project cleanliness and professionalism standards, and manage daily logistics
-
Lead and attend all necessary inspections with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), third-party inspectors, and clients
-
Ensure coordination of installation between trades to maintain schedule integrity and avoid scope conflicts

Collaborate with internal field leadership to apply best practices and drive jobsite efficiency

Track and submit Daily Reports that document progress, subcontractor performance, and schedule updates

Oversee submittals, material procurement, and on-time delivery of all construction components

Implement and maintain the Project Quality Assurance Plan; verify that all work meets specifications and standards

Attend and report on project health during meetings with Project Managers and Executive Leadership

Monitor progress toward energy savings targets in partnership with Measurement & Verification (M&V) and Engineering teams

Ensure compliance with all permits, legal requirements, and timely closeout of any regulatory documentation

Coordinate existing condition assessments and interface with facility personnel regarding field-related issues

Support commissioning and start-up activities to meet project and company standards

Represent the company professionally to clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
Qualifications
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial construction projects valued at $10M+, ideally in higher education or healthcare settings

Proven leadership experience managing subcontractors and site teams

Proficiency with Procore, Primavera, and Microsoft Office Suite

Experience with Pull Planning and Last Planner System

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

Capable of managing ambiguity and resolving site-level conflicts

Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Strong understanding of field safety, scheduling, quality control, and trade coordination
Physical & Work Environment Requirements

Must be able to climb stairs, lift up to 20 pounds, and remain standing or seated for extended periods
-
Frequent hand/wrist motion required
-
Occasional travel to project sites or office locations (0–5%)

Work is primarily conducted in a quiet, professional field environment
