Job Description
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Table Funding Mortgage Underwriter to join our client’s team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience within the mortgage/secondary markets, with at least 3-4 years specifically focused on underwriting similar loans. Experience in underwriting construction elements such as rehab and ground-up construction is a plus. The client manages all aspects of its investment portfolio using its dedicated internal team, including loan sourcing, pricing, underwriting, acquisition, and asset management. The client is also expanding its national footprint and is launching its second US location in Tampa, FL.

Location: Tampa, FL (Hybrid - subject to change)
Job Responsibilities:
- Underwrite loans following guidelines. Responsibilities will include: Reviewing and reconciling loan applications to ensure the loan meets various program requirements.
- Analysis of loan application, credit profile/report(s), debt and assets, income/financial statements, leverage ratios, appraisal reports, renovation budgets, borrower experience, collateral, and supporting documentation
- Manage an ongoing pipeline of loans through the companies’ loan-buying process
- Report on the status of loans within the pipeline regularly
- Present loans to the Credit Committee for exceptions and approvals
- Condition files for missing/supporting documentation according to the secondary market and clients’ guidelines
- Order and perform the preliminary review of all third-party reports (i.e. appraisal, appraisal reviews, background reports, inspections, and environmental reports)Â
- Collect, analyze, and approve all required due diligence
- Perform property and market assessments to evaluate property conditions and market/submarket dynamics
- Communicate and document reasons for approval or rejection of loans so clients and loan officers are well-informed of decisions
- Communicate with originators, counterparties, and vendors effectively and professionally
- Mentor and train junior staff as needed
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree highly preferred; Associates require
- Minimum 5 years of mortgage/secondary markets experience
- At least 3-4 years Underwriting business purpose residential loans
- Effective pipeline management skillsÂ
- Must be willing to work hybrid in the office (Hybrid - subject to change)
- Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentÂ
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsÂ
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel and WordÂ
- Must be authorized to work in the US
