Stationary Chief Engineer

Location: Midland, TX
Employment: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Schedule: Fully Onsite, Monday–Friday
Compensation: $70,000–$100,000 (depending on level of experience)

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Stationary Chief Engineer. The Stationary Chief Engineer is responsible for managing day-to-day plant operations including all service contracts in order to improve efficiency for our Client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage plant operations and the HVAC maintenance department.

  • Manage sub-contracts and purchase orders with service providers for Central Energy Plant (CEP) repairs.

  • Trains and coaches the operators to ensure the plant operates efficiently.

  • Perform on-going training of the plant operators.

  • Develop and maintain the Plant Operating Manual and Emergency SOP's.

  • Assist the EPC team with the coordination of engineering, procurement, and construction activities without interfering with normal operations.

  • Maintain adequate parts and materials inventory.

  • Coordinate on-site troubleshooting and diagnostic efforts with remote support services team.

  • Maintain an appropriate tool inventory for the stationary engineers.

  • Manage client expectations.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of central energy plant and facility operations experience.

  • Hands-on experience with chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, and building automation systems.

  • Prior experience supervising plant operators and managing operations within healthcare, laboratory, or other mission-critical facilities.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Well-versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.

  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and team morale.

  • Degree in a related technical field.

  • 1st Class A/C and Boilers licenses.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Travel approximately 0–5%

  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps

  • Frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, and perform repetitive motions

  • Operate machinery, hand tools, and power tools

  • Lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to weather conditions, noise, and active construction sites
