Job Title: Sr. Fabrication Estimator
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $102,000–$136,000 + discretionary annual bonus
Work Location:The preferred location for this role is Long Beach, MS. Depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications, consideration may also be given to candidates based in Baton Rouge or Metairie, LA, with approximately 10% travel required to the Long Beach office (about one hour away). Relocation assistance may be considered for qualified candidates.
Work Schedule: 100% Onsite
Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Sr. Fabrication Estimator with strong pipe fabrication and industrial/process piping expertise. This role is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, supporting bid strategy, and ensuring all fabrication costs are accurately captured and documented.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for pipe fabrication and mechanical projects
• Perform quantity take-offs and analyze engineering drawings and specifications
• Conduct site walks and support bid/no-bid decisions
• Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotes
• Calculate labor, material, and equipment costs using established unit rates
• Support management gate reviews and bid strategy meetings
• Maintain accurate estimating data for corporate cost databases
• Collaborate with project management, finance, legal, and operations teams
• Utilize KPI metrics to develop labor hour build-ups
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of estimating experience in pipe fabrication, industrial/process piping, or mechanical subcontracting
• Strong knowledge of fabrication methods, materials, and project specifications
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience with process piping unit rates (’73 price book, Page & Nations)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
• Modular estimating experience
• Experience using KPI-based performance factors
• ERP system experience
