Salary: $120,000 - $145,000 (5% bonus, up to 10% potential)

Job Description:
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Sr. Database Architect to join our client’s team in Addison, TX. This hands-on role requires expertise in MS SQL Server and database architecture to maintain high availability and optimal performance of data systems essential for business decision-making. The Sr. Database Architect will lead projects, optimize database structures for performance and scalability, and provide technical guidance to both onshore and offshore development teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design and manage database architecture and oversee SQL Server systems.
- Create and secure databases, ensuring compliance with access protocols.
- Optimize SQL Servers in Azure (VM, Managed Instances, or SQL DBs) for peak performance.
- Identify and resolve system bottlenecks to meet project deadlines.
- Collaborate with developers on indexing, query-tuning, and building efficient code.
- Coordinate with the IT team on disaster recovery and high availability protocols.
- Monitor SQL Server resources, disk space, and system capacity to meet demands.
- Utilize SQL and Azure tools to streamline processes and enhance solutions.
- Provide leadership and coordinate deliverables with onshore/offshore teams.
- Ensure high uptime and performance for all databases and services.
- Oversee source code management, deployments, and best practices.
- Develop and enforce policies for database architecture, security, and disaster recovery.
- Streamline data integration processes, improving efficiency and scalability.
- Build strong relationships across business units and support collaboration.
- Research new Azure tools (Data Lake, Databricks, Purview, etc.) and support Proof-of-Concept development.
- Provide additional support in analysis, development, and quality assurance as needed.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture, database development, and integration.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Server optimization for scalability and performance.
- 3+ years of experience managing SQL Servers in Azure environments (VM or Managed Instance).
- Experience working with offshore teams.
- In-depth knowledge of SQL Server internals and optimization in VM/Azure.
- Strong analytical skills to understand dependencies between processes and data.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience leading database projects.
- Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Power BI.
