Compensation: $120,000–$150,000 annually (DOE)

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Senior Physician Recruitment Director for a direct-hire opportunity based in Southlake, TX. This strategic leadership role is responsible for developing and executing physician recruitment, workforce planning, onboarding, and provider growth initiatives that support long-term organizational expansion.

The Senior Physician Recruitment Director will lead the full physician recruitment lifecycle while building proactive talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership, operations, physician leaders, human resources, and business development teams to ensure the organization has the right physician talent in the right markets at the right time.

The ideal candidate brings extensive physician recruitment experience, a consultative leadership approach, exceptional relationship-building skills, and the ability to balance strategic workforce planning with hands-on recruiting execution.

Key Responsibilities

Physician Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
  • Lead the full-cycle recruitment strategy for physician hiring initiatives across multiple markets.
  • Develop and maintain a national pipeline of physicians, residents, fellows, and specialized providers.
  • Build relationships with residency programs, medical schools, physician organizations, and professional associations.
  • Source candidates through networking, referrals, conferences, industry events, digital recruiting, and direct outreach.
  • Manage candidate pipelines and recruiting metrics while ensuring accurate ATS documentation.
  • Develop long-term recruiting strategies to engage physicians before hiring needs become immediate.
  • Represent the organization as an employer of choice throughout the physician recruiting process.

Workforce Planning & Growth Strategy
  • Develop multi-year physician workforce plans aligned with organizational growth objectives.
  • Partner with operations and executive leadership to identify current and future provider staffing needs.
  • Build proactive recruiting strategies for new markets, practice expansions, succession planning, and future growth initiatives.
  • Provide leadership with regular reporting on recruiting activity, pipeline health, workforce planning, and anticipated hiring timelines.
  • Support physician recruitment strategies for practice acquisitions, expansion initiatives, and new market development.

Candidate Experience & Recruitment Operations
  • Deliver an exceptional physician candidate experience from initial outreach through onboarding.
  • Coordinate physician interviews with executive leadership, physicians, and operational stakeholders.
  • Guide candidates through offer presentation, contract negotiations, and employment agreements.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Finance, Legal, and Operations throughout the hiring process.
  • Identify recruiting challenges and implement process improvements that increase hiring efficiency and offer acceptance rates.

Physician Onboarding & Integration
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for newly hired physicians throughout onboarding and first-year integration.
  • Coordinate cross-functional onboarding activities with Operations, Human Resources, Marketing, IT, Finance, and other internal teams.
  • Ensure operational readiness prior to physician start dates, including scheduling, staffing, referral development, equipment readiness, and market-specific needs.
  • Coordinate physician orientation, mentorship initiatives, and professional development programs, including Launch Lab participation.
  • Monitor physician engagement and early performance indicators while partnering with leadership to support successful long-term retention.

Relationship Management & Industry Engagement
  • Develop lasting relationships with residency directors, physician leaders, healthcare organizations, and professional networks.
  • Represent the organization at residency programs, physician conferences, networking events, and recruiting initiatives nationwide.
  • Build and maintain a strong employer brand within the physician community.
  • Deliver presentations and facilitate physician engagement events designed to strengthen recruiting efforts.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Advanced degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • Significant experience in physician recruitment, executive recruitment, healthcare operations, provider relations, or healthcare talent acquisition.
  • Proven success recruiting physicians or other highly specialized healthcare professionals.
  • Experience developing long-term workforce planning strategies and physician talent pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of physician recruitment, interviewing, contract negotiations, onboarding, and retention.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and networking skills with physicians, residency programs, healthcare executives, and clinical leadership.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management abilities.
  • Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), CRM platforms, and recruiting technologies.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% throughout the United States.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience recruiting oral and maxillofacial surgeons or other physician specialties.
  • Executive search experience recruiting physicians or highly specialized clinical talent.
  • Experience supporting healthcare practice growth, acquisitions, de novo expansions, or workforce planning initiatives.
  • Knowledge of physician compensation models, employment agreements, and provider onboarding best practices.

Travel Requirements
  • Approximately 50% nationwide travel.
  • Travel includes residency programs, physician conferences, healthcare recruiting events, facility visits, physician candidate meetings, physician onboarding activities, Launch Lab events, and leadership meetings.
