Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid – Office as Needed)
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Salary Range: $134,000 – $167,000
Bonus: 5%–10% annual target
Travel: 10–20% (events, clinics, client sites)
About the Role
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Senior Director of Physician Recruitment to lead a high-impact clinical recruitment function for a growing healthcare organization. This strategic leader will be responsible for developing and executing workforce strategies to recruit and retain physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) across emergency medicine, hospitalist, and anesthesia services. This is a unique opportunity to reshape and modernize the recruitment function, introduce data-driven strategies, and build a physician pipeline in both urban and remote markets.

About the Role
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Senior Director of Physician Recruitment to lead a high-impact clinical recruitment function for a growing healthcare organization. This strategic leader will be responsible for developing and executing workforce strategies to recruit and retain physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) across emergency medicine, hospitalist, and anesthesia services. This is a unique opportunity to reshape and modernize the recruitment function, introduce data-driven strategies, and build a physician pipeline in both urban and remote markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement national clinical recruitment strategies aligned with long-term workforce goals
- Oversee a team of 12+, including physician recruitment and workforce development professionals
- Develop and execute strategies to attract talent in remote and underserved markets
- Analyze workforce trends and use data to drive pipeline strategies and market-entry planning
- Collaborate with senior leadership, marketing, and clinical stakeholders to create and deploy effective talent acquisition campaigns
- Define and monitor recruiting KPIs, goals, and incentive plans for the team
- Partner with clients and internal departments to forecast hiring needs and support new market launches
- Lead change management efforts to reposition recruitment as a proactive, metrics-driven function
- Promote employer brand visibility to position the organization as an employer of choice
- Support budget planning, workforce forecasting, and reporting on talent metrics
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in physician and APP recruitment, with a focus on emergency medicine, hospitalist, or anesthesia
- Strategic mindset with experience designing national recruitment campaigns and creating recruitment marketing strategies from the ground up
- Strong understanding of clinical staffing challenges in remote or rural markets
- Data-driven approach to workforce planning and recruitment operations
- Comfortable leading organizational change and building scalable processes
- Experienced in aligning recruitment goals with clinical operations and organizational growth
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Human Resources, or related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience in healthcare workforce development, clinical recruitment, or physician recruiting
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting
- Minimum 3 years specifically in physician recruitment
- Proficiency with recruitment metrics, pipeline development, and strategy creation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building recruitment marketing strategies in clinical environments
- Experience recruiting in emergency medicine or acute care settings
- Knowledge of recruitment tools and workforce planning platforms
- Demonstrated success in developing and managing KPI-driven recruitment teams
