Senior Accountant
Employment Type: Direct Hire

Position Overview:
Wheeler Staffing Partners' client, a machinery manufacturing company specializing in agricultural equipment, is seeking a Senior Accountant. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of progressive experience and a strong background in preparing and reviewing financial statements. Experience with JD Edwards or SAP is preferred. The candidate should also have experience preparing consolidated financial statements and must not have had more than two jobs in the last five years.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements for the company and its subsidiaries.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- General Ledger Management:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
- Stay up-to-date on accounting standards and regulations.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency in financial operations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new accounting systems and processes.
- Cross-Department Collaboration:
- Work closely with the finance team and other departments to support business initiatives and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills:

- Strong decision-making and time management skills.
- Proven ability to implement and evaluate business processes, metrics, and systems.
- Strong analytical skills and mastery of Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field is required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
- Experience preparing consolidated financial statements.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with JD Edwards or SAP preferred.
