Job Overview:
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a qualified Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join a distinguished healthcare team in Detroit, MI. This role is open to graduates of an AMA/CoARC-approved Respiratory Care program and requires licensure within five months of hire. As a vital member of the healthcare team, you will deliver comprehensive respiratory care services throughout the continuum of care.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver respiratory therapy services under the direction of a registered respiratory therapist and in accordance with established protocols.
- Provide therapeutic and rehabilitative procedures as well as diagnostic tests for patients with or at risk of cardiopulmonary abnormalities.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to develop and optimize cardiopulmonary care plans.
- Perform patient assessments and evaluate the effectiveness of therapies, determining delegation opportunities for respiratory care activities.
- Educate patients on the proper use of respiratory equipment and procedures.
- Operate, calibrate, maintain, and perform routine checks on respiratory equipment.
- Conduct patient care rounds and coordinate with the Respiratory Case Manager and Senior Respiratory Therapist to refine patient care plans.
- Administer medical gases, aerosolized drugs, and oxygen therapy as prescribed.
- Perform and maintain blood gas analysis and related equipment.
- Support patient transports and provide essential respiratory education as needed.
- Instruct and evaluate employees and students on respiratory care principles and practices, serving as an in-charge therapist or preceptor as required.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Education: Completion of an AMA/CoARC-approved Respiratory Care program; Associate’s degree in Science, Allied Health, or equivalent.
- Licensure: Must obtain a license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan within five months of employment.
- Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- State License: License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Michigan is required within the given timeframe.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidates must pass a background check and drug screening.
