Position Summary
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced RN Director – Surgical Services to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for surgical services within an acute-care hospital setting. This role supports the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is responsible for ensuring high-quality, safe, and effective nursing care across assigned surgical units.
The RN Director will assume 24/7 operational accountability for assigned departments, oversee clinical and administrative functions, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, patient safety initiatives, and organizational goals.

Position Summary
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced RN Director – Surgical Services to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for surgical services within an acute-care hospital setting. This role supports the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is responsible for ensuring high-quality, safe, and effective nursing care across assigned surgical units.
The RN Director will assume 24/7 operational accountability for assigned departments, oversee clinical and administrative functions, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, patient safety initiatives, and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership and operational support to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for nursing and designated patient care services
-
Assist in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across multiple surgical units

Maintain 24/7 accountability for assigned surgical services and clinical operations
-
Ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered nursing care

Promote staff competency, professional development, and clinical excellence
-
Manage staffing, budgeting, and resource utilization to support patient care operations
-
Support quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and regulatory compliance
-
Serve as a role model and advocate for professional nursing practice

Collaborate with interdisciplinary leadership to optimize surgical services performance

Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational and patient care goals
Required Qualifications
Education (One of the following is required):
-
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences), OR

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Experience:
-
Minimum of 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital setting
-
Experience must be at the manager or director level
-
Must demonstrate increasing responsibility (not limited to charge nurse duties)

Minimum of 3 years of hospital-based Operating Room (OR) experience
Licensure & Certification:
-
Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Massachusetts
-
Compact licenses are not accepted
-
Relocation candidates must be willing to obtain MA licensure

Current CPR certification

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master’s degree in a healthcare-related field
