Construction Manager – Large Commercial Construction Projects

Location: Paducah, Louisville, or Lexington, Kentucky (Local candidates preferred; open to travelers)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Compensation: $90,000 – $120,000 annually + undisclosed annual bonus + monthly living and car allowances (for non-local candidates)
Schedule: 100% onsite at one of the Kentucky hospital project sites

About the Role
Wheeler Staffing Partners is hiring a Construction Manager on behalf of our client. This role provides complete field leadership and operational oversight for large commercial construction projects, working closely with the Project Manager to ensure successful project delivery.

The Construction Manager will coordinate subcontractors, oversee safety and quality standards, and maintain professionalism across the job site.

Projects: Three hospital construction sites in Lexington, Louisville, and Paducah, Kentucky.

Travel Requirement:
Candidates will stay onsite for four consecutive weeks (living allowance provided), followed by one company-reimbursed trip home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary safety leader on-site, implementing the Site-Specific Safety Plan and maintaining a safe, compliant work environment.

  • Develop, maintain, and update the Project Schedule, utilizing pull planning and implementing recovery strategies as needed.

  • Oversee and coordinate all site construction activities to ensure work is completed per schedule, quality standards, and contract documents.

  • Lead and attend site inspections with AHJs, clients, and third-party inspectors.

  • Drive trade partner coordination to ensure smooth execution and timely completion of deliverables.

  • Manage daily project operations, including scheduling, inspections, logistics, and documentation.

  • Monitor and prepare accurate Daily Reports to track progress and compliance.

  • Oversee submittal processing and procurement to ensure timely material delivery.

  • Implement and manage the Project Quality Assurance Plan, ensuring compliance with specifications and swift resolution of deficiencies.

  • Participate in weekly project update meetings to communicate progress and address project challenges.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and M&V teams to meet energy efficiency and sustainability goals.

  • Ensure all permits and legal requirements are obtained and closed out in compliance with regulations.

  • Support start-up and commissioning activities in coordination with project and client teams.

  • Promote and uphold company culture, values, and professionalism on and off the job site.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in large-scale commercial construction ($10M+), preferably in healthcare or higher education environments.

  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Experience with pull planning and Last Planner System methodologies.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and Primavera (P6) scheduling software.

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Highly detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Skilled in conflict resolution, decision-making, and maintaining client satisfaction.

Work Environment

  • Minimal travel (0–10%) outside assigned project sites.

  • Primarily onsite at active hospital construction locations.

  • Physical requirements include: standing or sitting for extended periods, stair climbing, and light lifting (up to 20 lbs).
