Director of Business Development – Hospice

Location: Columbia, MD
Territory Coverage: Montgomery County, MD & Washington, DC
Compensation: $120,000 – $150,000 base salary + bonus & commission
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire

Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Director of Business Development – Hospice for a leading provider of hospice care. This role combines in-office responsibilities with extensive fieldwork across the assigned territory. The Director will lead a team of Hospice Sales Consultants, supporting business growth through ride-alongs, branch visits, and client relationship development. If you are an experienced sales leader with a passion for hospice care, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Hospice Sales Consultants to achieve sales goals and quotas.

  • Participate in ride-alongs and client meetings to observe interactions, provide coaching, and strengthen client relationships.

  • Conduct regular branch visits to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and address operational needs.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key referral sources and healthcare partners.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to set departmental goals, implement strategies, and evaluate results.

  • Oversee training for team members on the referral, intake, and admissions process.

  • Maintain professional and clinical competence within the hospice industry.

  • Analyze sales data and account activity to identify business trends and develop territory growth plans.

  • Partner with the Regional Vice President to execute strategies that enhance market reputation and drive business growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales, Business, or related field preferred.

  • Proven experience in hospice, home health, healthcare sales, or community development.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct a sales team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of referral patterns and healthcare networks within the service area.

  • Experience developing and delivering educational in-services to clients and referral sources.

  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout Montgomery County, MD and Washington, DC.
