Location: Plano, TX | On-Site
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Additional hours may be required during month-end close)
Salary: $50,000–$70,000 annually (Based on Experience)
Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a detail-oriented Production Planning & Purchasing Coordinator for a direct hire opportunity in Plano, TX. This role is responsible for managing production schedules while ensuring raw materials and production supplies are purchased and available to support manufacturing operations. Serving as the primary link between production, purchasing, sales, and customer service, this individual helps drive on-time deliveries, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate has experience in production planning, purchasing, inventory control, ERP systems, and manufacturing operations. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential for success.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling

Develop and maintain daily production schedules for manufacturing equipment and production lines.

Monitor production capacity, machine availability, and labor resources to identify scheduling constraints.

Coordinate production priorities to ensure on-time customer deliveries.

Optimize production workflows to improve efficiency and minimize downtime.

Serve as the primary liaison between Sales, Customer Service, and Production regarding scheduling and order status.
Purchasing & Inventory Management

Purchase raw materials, production supplies, and custom tooling required for manufacturing.

Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and inventory monitoring.

Manage safety stock levels and forecast material requirements to prevent shortages.

Coordinate vendor purchases to support production schedules while controlling costs.
Reporting & Process Improvement

Maintain accurate ERP/MRP system data.

Develop and monitor production, purchasing, and inventory KPIs.

Prepare operational reports for leadership.

Identify opportunities to improve scheduling, purchasing, inventory management, and production efficiency.

Support continuous improvement initiatives and special projects.
Required Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED required.
-
Minimum of 5 years of related experience in production planning, purchasing, inventory control, or manufacturing operations, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with ERP or MRP systems.

Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.

Strong computer and data entry skills.

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in label printing, packaging, or printing manufacturing.

Experience with production scheduling and demand planning.

Knowledge of purchasing, inventory management, and procurement best practices.

Experience developing operational reports and KPIs.

Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience preferred.
