Wheeler Staffing Partners is hiring a Payroll Tax Analyst with an esteemed medical academic center’s corporate office in Dallas, TX. The role is hybrid 2 days a week after on-site training is completed.
The Payroll Tax Analyst Performs a variety of payroll activities within the Oracle PeopleSoft 9.2 system, including processing and auditing wage and overtime payments, payroll deductions (manually and via interface), tax adjustments, and requests for paycheck adjustments or off-cycle payments. Although duties normally follow established procedures, responsibilities may include routine, minor corrections to make documents acceptable for processing. Works under the general supervision of the Payroll Supervisor.

Job Description
Wheeler Staffing Partners is hiring a Payroll Tax Analyst with an esteemed medical academic center’s corporate office in Dallas, TX. The role is hybrid 2 days a week after on-site training is completed.
The Payroll Tax Analyst Performs a variety of payroll activities within the Oracle PeopleSoft 9.2 system, including processing and auditing wage and overtime payments, payroll deductions (manually and via interface), tax adjustments, and requests for paycheck adjustments or off-cycle payments. Although duties normally follow established procedures, responsibilities may include routine, minor corrections to make documents acceptable for processing. Works under the general supervision of the Payroll Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely calculation, processing, and distribution of company payrolls
- Ensure that transactions are processed in compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as government agency regulations
- Process and audit company payrolls, including input or upload of approved adjustments to pay, with a strong focus on employee status changes, new hires, terminations, federal/state/local tax changes, 403(b) and other benefit changes, garnishments, and any other adjustments that impact gross-to-net calculations.
- Balance and evaluate federal/state/local tax files, and work with the Tax Administrator regarding tax processing and questions and concerns.
- Maintain employee pay records, reflecting all payroll updates and audit changes posted to payroll software
- Maintain the flow of documentation for payroll changes, including communication with internal departments to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay calculations
- Calculate retroactive payments, as required, create manual checks, and set up off-cycle payrolls, including special bonus and incentive processing
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate or Bachelor degree preferred, and two (2) years of related experience and normally required specific accounting/payroll training.
- FPC or CPP certification preferred
- Knowledge of all aspects of payroll and tax processing
- Peoplesoft 9.2 experience is required
- Basic Tax knowledge with payroll is required
- Working with International Tax Filings is preferred
- Ability to handle confidential information
