Job Description
Wheeler Staffing Partners is hiring a Payments Manager with a credit union client in Los Angeles, CA (90025). Represent the Credit Union by serving as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all Payments related products to limit the credit union’s financial exposure and ensure a profitable return.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee card dispute process and ensure all regulatory and network deadlines are adhered to and disputes resolved timely.
- Manage and supervise department staff of 6 and provide guidance and coaching when needed, in the areas or member services, fraud/dispute claims, payments processing, employee development, and employee training.
- Conduct individual one-on-ones and complete and deliver monthly evaluations of staff in a timely manner.
- Responsible for record keeping on staff including managing workforce daily, managing hybrid schedules, and approving timecards.
- Provide guidance and direction to staff on questions related to disputes, increasing limits, limited access and the like on members’ account.
- Responsible for making decisions on whether to increase daily card and deposit limits, and to what extent based on member tenure, relationship and standing with the credit union. Determine the additional liability the credit union will have based on increased limits.
- Responsible for making decisions on whether to increase credit union liability and to what extent on mobile deposits, P2P transfers, and external transfers daily and directing staff to process accordingly.
- Manage and lead affinity card projects and work with representatives from Marketing, Lending, and TS/IT and external vendors to ensure card projects are on time. Also responsible for testing usability of physical cards as well as core and processing systems to ensure functionality of products and services.
- Develop all Payments-related procedures and desk-aids to ensure the front line and back-office areas have the most current information on payments-related tasks and are fully trained.
- Resolve all member escalations related to Payments products and use judgement in determining the appropriate resolution and opportunities for improvements and coaching of staff with the objective to resolve prior to escalating to VP.
- Develops and delivers training for Payments, Contact Center, and Branch team members on operational procedures related to ATM, returned deposit items, ACH, card transactions, card disputes and electronic money movements.
- Collaborates with the Vice Presidents of Payments & Risk, Finance and Technical Support among others to monitor and track portfolio performance and development metrics to track the portfolio performance over time.
- Manage relationships with Payments vendors including, but not limited to CO-OP, FIS, Wespay (NACHA), Vertifi, Catalyst, Entrust Datacard, Visa, and Mastercard to build and maintain rapport to ensure the company receives consistently excellent service.
- Oversee card ordering processes including lost and stolen accounts and plastics inventory.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Associates Degree required or strong relevant industry training
- 10 years of related experience in payments, primarily related to card disputes
- Strong project management abilities.
- Ability to use related computer applications
- Must have courtesy, tact and diplomacy
- Must be willing to work fully onsite
- Must have strong interpersonal skills to work with others inside and outside the Credit Union generally for routine matters of giving and obtaining information, as well as advising or referring, which commonly requires shorter discussions
