Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 6+ months (open-ended contract).
Remote: A quiet home office environment is required.
Pay Rate: $17 - $18 per hour.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM MST.


Job Description:
Wheeler Staffing Partners is hiring a Patient Account Representative for an ongoing contract opportunity. This is a fully remote role, requiring the ability to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM MST. Candidates must have a quiet home office setup with reliable internet access.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work accounts to ensure timely resolution.
  • Follow up on claim submissions and insurance collections.
  • Review remittances and pursue disputed balances with government and non-government entities.
  • Conduct collections and follow-up tasks efficiently.
  • Utilize payer websites to research and resolve account issues.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of claim status and actions taken.
  • Meet daily productivity and quality goals.
  • Identify and escalate payment delays, workflow inconsistencies, and payer behavior trends.
  • Assist team members as needed and provide support for backlog management.
  • Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Collections and follow-up experience.
  • Knowledge of payer websites and the ability to read and interpret EOBs (Explanation of Benefits).
  • Understanding of the revenue cycle process from patient access to financial services.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Experience with hospital billing forms (UB04, HCFA 1500).
  • Familiarity with commercial, managed care, Medicare, and Medicaid insurance.
  • Ability to navigate hospital systems (ACE, VI Web, IMaCS, OnDemand).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and ability to prioritize tasks.
Preferred:
  • Experience with managed care contracts and government payor requirements.
  • Familiarity with terms such as HMO, PPO, IPA, and Capitation.

Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in business administration or accounting preferred.
  • 1-4 years of experience in medical claims and/or hospital collections.
  • Minimum typing requirement of 45 WPM.
