This is a contract role with potential for contract-to-hire based on performance and client needs.
Key Responsibilities

Validate denial reasons using Explanation of Benefits (EOB) reviews
-
Ensure accurate denial coding in DCM systems
-
Coordinate with Clinical Resource Center (CRC) for account referrals or clinical consultations
-
Generate appeals based on payer-specific guidelines and contract terms (including online reconsiderations)
-
Escalate unresolved denials or exhausted appeal efforts
-
Work payer-related projects and respond to contract interpretation requests

Compile supporting documentation for appeals and payer escalations
-
Identify trends in denial or payment variances and report findings to leadership

Research account corrections, update DCM appropriately, and route accounts as needed
Required Skills and Knowledge

Intermediate understanding of:
-
Explanation of Benefits (EOB) forms
-
Managed Care Contracts and payer-specific language
-
UB-04 hospital billing forms
-
ICD-9, HCPCS/CPT coding and medical terminology
-
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
-
Strong analytical and research skills
-
Effective written communication and business letter writing
-
Ability to manage tasks independently in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
Education and Experience-
High School Diploma or equivalent required
-
Some college coursework in business, healthcare, or accounting preferred
-
3–5 years of experience in a hospital business office, billing, or collections environment
-
1–4 years of experience working with insurance denials and appeals (preferred)
