Job Type: Full-Time, Days (Salaried)
Pay Range: $78K – $118K/yr (equivalent, DOE)
Schedule: Monday–Friday (Must be available 24/7 for staff call support except during vacation)
Sign-On Bonus: Negotiable
Position Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic OR Nurse Manager (RN) to oversee the day-to-day operations of a high-performing Operating Room department. This role requires strong leadership, clinical acumen, and a deep understanding of perioperative nursing to manage a team of 30+ FTEs including RNs, surgical techs, sterile processors, and OR schedulers. The ideal candidate will bring direct OR experience and proven success in surgical services management.
You will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary surgical team, ensuring high-quality care delivery, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and fostering a culture of safety and excellence. The role assumes 24/7 accountability for the OR unit, including oversight of both inpatient and outpatient surgical services (primarily outpatient), in collaboration with key departments such as PACU, Same Day Surgery, Cath Lab, ICU, ER, and Sterile Processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, clinical oversight, and operational management for a multi-room OR with robotic and advanced surgical capabilities.
- Ensure safe, effective patient care and surgical outcomes by coordinating staffing, scheduling, and workflow across all OR-related departments.
- Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary surgical team, promoting continued professional development and engagement.
- Serve as a clinical expert in the OR; must be comfortable “scrubbing in” or actively supporting the surgical team when needed.
- Ensure compliance with clinical standards, hospital policies, and all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate across departments to maintain continuity of care and optimal patient throughput.
- Analyze and optimize department metrics including staff productivity, case volumes, infection prevention, and budget adherence.
- Champion a culture of quality improvement, patient safety, and interdisciplinary communication.
- Participate in strategic planning and resource forecasting in coordination with senior nursing and administrative leadership.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: Academic degree in Nursing
- Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing
- Active, unrestricted RN license in state of practice
- CPR/BLS certification required
- CNOR certification highly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive leadership experience as an OR Manager or Charge Nurse in a surgical services environment
- Prior hands-on Operating Room nursing experience is required
- Proven ability to lead and manage large OR teams, including surgical techs and support staff
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
- Demonstrated ability to maintain composure in high-acuity or emergent situations
- Experience with robotics and minimally invasive surgery platforms is a plus

- FTE Oversight: ~30 FTEs
- Call Requirements: Yes – Must be available 24/7 for call support (except while on vacation)
- OR Capacity: 8 OR rooms, 2 surgical robots
- Surgical Specialties: Robotic, Minimally Invasive, General Surgery, Cardiovascular, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Gynecology, and more
- Key Interfaces: PACU, ER, Same Day Surgery, Cath Lab, ICU, Stepdown, Sterile Processing
- Procedures: Primarily outpatient; emergency on-call procedures on weekends only
