Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our perioperative team. This role requires strong clinical acumen and a passion for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. The OR RN is responsible for the delivery of professional nursing care in the operative setting, including pre-operative preparation, intraoperative support, and post-anesthesia recovery coordination in collaboration with the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are available and functional.
- Perform patient assessments and implement individualized care plans in the operating room environment.
- Serve as scrub or circulating nurse during surgeries, ensuring adherence to surgical protocols and aseptic technique.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical techs, and other healthcare professionals to deliver optimal patient outcomes.
- Monitor the patient’s physiological responses during surgery and take appropriate action when necessary.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all aspects of the surgical procedure.
- Support operating room turnover and prepare for subsequent cases to ensure smooth workflow.
- Comply with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards in all perioperative practices.
- Provide guidance and oversight to support staff to maintain clinical standards and quality of care.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher
- Current and active RN license in the state of TN or compact
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Preferred
- CNOR Certification – Preferred
- Previous OR nursing experience strongly preferred (circulating and/or scrubbing)
Additional Information:
- Pre-Employment: Includes background check, drug screen, and health clearance
- Vaccination Policy: Must comply with current vaccination mandates; proof of vaccination or approved exemption required prior to employment, with regular testing for exempt individuals
