Job Description
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Network Engineer in Dallas, TX. The Network Engineer is responsible for researching, testing, evaluating, recommending, and supporting network hardware and software within the Company. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and have Fortinet Experience and experience with Fortinet Authenticator, Firewall, Fortinet Manager. This is a hybrid position, will need to be onsite at least 3 days a week.Â
Network Engineer Responsibilities:
- Oversees and manages all data communications equipment. Responsibilities include equipment configuration, security, monitoring and reporting on usage and problems, development of specialized communications programs, capacity planning and equipment utilization data
- Surveys and identifies operational areas that need upgraded equipment, including routers, switches and telephony devices
- Develops and implements best practices; assists in project design and deployment
- Designs, tests, deploys monitors and administers LAN / WAN / MAN connectivity
- Oversees or assists in installation of data communications hardware
- Performs capacity reviews and planning for telecommunications circuits and equipment
- Maintains networking documentation current
- Solves issues with end-user requests in a timely and professional manner
- Receive and respond to technical escalations from other teams
- Enters all trouble tickets into the Help Desk application
- Participates in special projects as assigned
Network Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Must have Fortigate, Forti Authenticator, Forti Manager, Forti Analyzer
- 6-8 years related experience and/or training within Network Infrastructure environment consisting of:
- CCNA/CCNP
- Telephony concepts, including DS-x, DSL/Cable, smartjacks, LECs, ISPs and CPE equipment
- Cisco routers, switches, wireless access points and firewalls (ASA and PIX)
- Cisco UCM and CCX
- Websense/Web Filtering technologies
- Solarwinds Orion/Systems Monitoring/SNMP/MIBs
- Intermediate knowledge of:
- BGP
- RIP
- EIGRP
- VPN
- VLANs
- MPLS
- Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of department managers, computer users, peers, and vendors
- Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
