Salary Range: $100,000 – $150,000

Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a highly experienced Compliance Manager on behalf of our client in Irvine, CA. This role is responsible for overseeing compliance functions across mortgage banking operations, including servicing and originations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge of federal and state mortgage regulations, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple compliance-related departments.
Key Responsibilities

Perform compliance reviews of internal processes and procedures to ensure adherence to applicable regulations.

Obtain and maintain corporate licensing and ensure regulatory compliance across business units.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state laws, including Dodd-Frank Act, FDCPA, TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, HMDA, and related regulations.

Escalate compliance concerns to the CEO and recommend corrective action.

Prepare, file, and manage HMDA reports, Mortgage Call Reports, state filings, and annual reports.

Manage licensing, quality control, and vendor management departments.

Facilitate and prepare for state examinations and interact with examiners.

Write, update, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training programs.

Approve company advertising for compliance with federal and state laws.

Respond to state or federal consumer complaints through CFPB, HUD LEAP, and CSC portals.

Manage company insurance policies in accordance with agency guidelines.

Support compliance communications and maintain internal resources.

Research regulatory changes, inform senior management, and assist with implementation.

Oversee special projects and provide support directly to the CEO as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree (highly preferred).
-
15+ years of mortgage industry experience, with at least 10 years in mortgage compliance.

Strong knowledge of mortgage compliance laws, regulations, and practices.

Exceptional analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and general computer applications.

Proven ability to manage teams and interact with senior management and regulators.

Excellent problem-solving, planning, and prioritization abilities.
Preferred:
-
Extensive knowledge of Dodd-Frank, FDCPA, TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, HMDA, and related mortgage regulations.

Professional experience in managing compliance across multiple business units.
