Position Summary
The Medical Surgical/Telemetry RN provides direct, patient-centered care for individuals undergoing medical and surgical treatments, with an added emphasis on continuous telemetry monitoring. This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety, care coordination, and optimal clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Provide direct clinical care to assigned patients in the Med Surg/Telemetry unit.

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
-
Monitor vital signs and telemetry data; promptly communicate changes to the healthcare team.
-
Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments in accordance with provider orders.
-
Educate patients and their families about conditions, treatments, and ongoing care.
-
Supervise and delegate duties to nursing assistants and support staff as appropriate.
-
Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes in patient records.
-
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other team members to ensure coordinated care.
-
Adhere to infection control, safety policies, and best clinical practices.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical staff development.
Qualifications
Education:
-
Required: Graduate of a state-approved or accredited school of nursing.

Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing.
Licensure/Certifications:
-
Active RN license in good standing (Tennessee or compact state).
-
Current CPR certification (BLS required; ACLS preferred).
