Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Locations: Birmingham, AL; Orlando, FL; Dallas, TX; Nashville, TN; Oklahoma City, OK; St. Louis, MO; Salt Lake City, UT
Openings: 7 (1 per location)
Relocation Assistance: Available
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite (Flexible Schedule Available)
Travel: 5–10% (Regional travel; mileage and expenses reimbursed)
Compensation: $100,000–$130,000 annually + discretionary annual bonus + $80/month phone allowance

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer PE I to support the design and delivery of HVAC and mechanical systems for healthcare, higher education, and commercial MEP projects. This role is responsible for engineering design, signing and sealing construction documents, performing field evaluations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality mechanical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and institutional facilities.

  • Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications using Revit.

  • Sign and seal engineering documents.

  • Design central utility plants, chillers, boilers, ductwork, and related mechanical systems.

  • Conduct field assessments and verify existing conditions.

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers throughout project delivery.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

  • Support projects from design through construction.

Required Qualifications

  • Mechanical Professional Engineer (PE) License (Required)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • 4+ years of mechanical engineering experience

  • Proficiency with Revit

  • Experience designing HVAC, chillers, boilers, ductwork, central plants, and mechanical systems

  • Experience supporting healthcare, higher education, or other MEP infrastructure projects

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
