Job Summary
Wheeler Staffing Partners is looking for an Investor Accountant who serves as the direct contact for investors and master servicers, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with established guidelines while supporting custodial account reconciliations and servicing accounting operations in alignment with investor and corporate standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit required accounting reports and remittances within defined timelines for each investor or master servicer
- Apply working knowledge of investor contracts and servicing guidelines
- Perform accurate and timely reconciliation of custodial, general ledger, and operating accounts
- Set up new custodial accounts for incoming investors and master servicers
- Act as liaison between internal departments and investors and master servicers to resolve issues and exceptions
- Execute fund movements, including wire transfers and loan-level cash transactions
- Conduct daily MERS portfolio reconciliation and resolve discrepancies
- Manage service release loan sales, including balancing transactions and ensuring proper reporting and remittance
- Support additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
Experience
- Internship experience in Accounting or Finance or up to 1 year of relevant experience preferred
- Exposure to accounting and reconciliation processes preferred
- Experience in mortgage loan accounting and servicing contracts preferred
Functional and Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Microsoft Windows applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of agency reporting and remittance requirements preferred
- Strong mathematical and analytical abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to meet deadlines consistently
