Our 59-bed acute primary care facility offers first-rate health care close to home, including a wide range of inpatient and outpatient diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation services. With dedicated home health and hospice programs and various community outreach initiatives, this team is committed to compassionate and comprehensive care.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-quality healthcare team focused on safety, compliance, and excellence in infection prevention and control.
Position Overview
The Infection Control Preventionist coordinates a comprehensive infection prevention and control program aligned with regulatory, government, and accrediting standards. The role includes surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), data collection and analysis, outbreak investigation, policy development, and overall program administration.
This role reports to the Infection Control Director and plays a vital part in ensuring patient, staff, and visitor safety across the facility.

Primary Responsibilities
Infection Surveillance & Risk Management
- Develops and maintains infection surveillance, prevention, and control programs.
- Collects, manages, and analyzes data using standardized criteria for HAIs.
- Monitors patients and community trends for communicable diseases and multi-drug resistant organisms.
- Identifies and investigates infection clusters and outbreaks.
- Recommends and enforces appropriate isolation precautions.
- Assists in survey readiness for state and accrediting agencies.
- Develops and updates infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Evaluates infection prevention strategies and their effectiveness.
- Collaborates with departments to implement infection control best practices.
- Provides education and consultation to staff, patients, and visitors.
- Prepares written and verbal reports for committees and external agencies.
- Participates in orientation and annual education programs.
- Works with Employee Health on exposure management and immunization strategies.
- Partners with Facilities Management on infection control for construction/renovation.
- Leads the Infection Control Committee alongside medical leadership and supports Quality Council initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current California RN License
- Physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and tolerate prolonged standing, walking, or sitting
- Ability to work in high-risk clinical environments, including potential exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials
- Prior experience in Infection Control
- Experience in Occupational Health
- NHSN (National Healthcare Safety Network) access and reporting knowledge
Work Environment
- Direct patient contact under varying conditions
- Exposure to infections, contagious diseases, body fluids, and unpleasant patient situations
- Risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous agents
