Infection Prevention Manager – Full-Time Days
Location: Palm Springs, CA
Pay Range: $97,760 – $151,840/year (DOE)
Shift: Days | Full-Time | Relocation Assistance Offered
Required: California RN License (flexible based on experience)
Position Summary
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a dedicated Infection Prevention Manager to lead and coordinate the infection prevention and control program in accordance with regulatory, government, and accrediting/licensing agencies and organizational policies and procedures. This role involves surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), collection, analysis, and interpretation of surveillance data, outbreak investigation, and program evaluation. The Infection Prevention Manager will also be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the infection prevention and control program.

Position Summary
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a dedicated Infection Prevention Manager to lead and coordinate the infection prevention and control program in accordance with regulatory, government, and accrediting/licensing agencies and organizational policies and procedures. This role involves surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), collection, analysis, and interpretation of surveillance data, outbreak investigation, and program evaluation. The Infection Prevention Manager will also be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the infection prevention and control program.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain an infection surveillance, prevention, and control program based on the organizational risk assessment and other needs in accordance with state, federal, and other reporting requirements.

Collect, manage, and analyze surveillance data using standardized methodology and defined criteria for HAIs.

Organize and maintain surveillance data and records.

Report surveillance data, findings, and analysis to the appropriate committees, patient care units, personnel, and external agencies.

Monitor patients for the occurrence of communicable diseases, HAIs, and resistant and epidemiologically important organisms.

Investigate exposures to communicable disease and initiate appropriate measures to prevent the transmission of disease.

Evaluate products, devices, and equipment as relating to infection prevention and control.

Develop or obtain educational material and programs, as needed, for personnel, patients, and visitors.

Collaborate with employee health personnel on matters such as exposure management and immunization.

Work with facilities management and other personnel to evaluate infection risks associated with renovation and construction projects and to identify control measures.

Actively participate in performance improvement activities.

Maintain departmental records to be in compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Provide written and verbal reports to administration and relevant committees, departments, personnel, and external agencies.

Communicate with local and state health departments.

Participate in orientation programs and required annual education programs.
Qualifications
-
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Must be currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.

CPR certification required.
-
Experience in Infection Control preferred.

Experience in Occupational Health preferred.

NHSN access and knowledge preferred.
Physical Demands
-
Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.).
-
Prolonged sitting/standing and walking depending on the situation.
Working Conditions

Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
-
May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases.
-
Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, and wastes.
-
Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements.
-
Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases.
