Infection Prevention Manager – Full-Time Days
Location: Palm Springs, CA
Pay Range: $97,760 – $151,840/year (DOE)
Shift: Days | Full-Time | Relocation Assistance Offered
Required: California RN License (flexible based on experience)


Position Summary

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a dedicated Infection Prevention Manager to lead and coordinate the infection prevention and control program in accordance with regulatory, government, and accrediting/licensing agencies and organizational policies and procedures. This role involves surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), collection, analysis, and interpretation of surveillance data, outbreak investigation, and program evaluation. The Infection Prevention Manager will also be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the infection prevention and control program.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an infection surveillance, prevention, and control program based on the organizational risk assessment and other needs in accordance with state, federal, and other reporting requirements.

  • Collect, manage, and analyze surveillance data using standardized methodology and defined criteria for HAIs.

  • Organize and maintain surveillance data and records.

  • Report surveillance data, findings, and analysis to the appropriate committees, patient care units, personnel, and external agencies.

  • Monitor patients for the occurrence of communicable diseases, HAIs, and resistant and epidemiologically important organisms.

  • Investigate exposures to communicable disease and initiate appropriate measures to prevent the transmission of disease.

  • Evaluate products, devices, and equipment as relating to infection prevention and control.

  • Develop or obtain educational material and programs, as needed, for personnel, patients, and visitors.

  • Collaborate with employee health personnel on matters such as exposure management and immunization.

  • Work with facilities management and other personnel to evaluate infection risks associated with renovation and construction projects and to identify control measures.

  • Actively participate in performance improvement activities.

  • Maintain departmental records to be in compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.

  • Provide written and verbal reports to administration and relevant committees, departments, personnel, and external agencies.

  • Communicate with local and state health departments.

  • Participate in orientation programs and required annual education programs.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

  • Must be currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.

  • CPR certification required.

  • Experience in Infection Control preferred.

  • Experience in Occupational Health preferred.

  • NHSN access and knowledge preferred.


Physical Demands

  • Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.).

  • Prolonged sitting/standing and walking depending on the situation.


Working Conditions

  • Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.

  • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases.

  • Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, and wastes.

  • Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements.

  • Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases.
