Located in Palm Springs, this 385-bed acute-care hospital serves as a stroke-receiving center and Level 2 trauma facility. The hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, and outpatient therapy, hand, and lymphedema clinics.
Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Infection Control Lead to oversee and manage the hospital-wide Infection Control Program. This role involves direct oversight of infection control practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory and state requirements, and collaborating with various departments to protect patients, visitors, and staff from healthcare-associated infections.

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Infection Control Lead to oversee and manage the hospital-wide Infection Control Program. This role involves direct oversight of infection control practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory and state requirements, and collaborating with various departments to protect patients, visitors, and staff from healthcare-associated infections.
Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership: Develop, implement, and oversee the Infection Control Program hospital-wide.

Education & Training: Design and deliver in-service programs on infection prevention and control; serve as an educator for new employees, new graduates, volunteers, and nursing students.

Regulatory Compliance: Assist Hospital Compliance and Patient Safety in maintaining infection control standards to protect all hospital patients and visitors, with an emphasis on high-risk populations.

Collaboration: Partner with the Infection Control Medical Director, Environmental Safety Officer, and Employee Occupational Health Department to ensure adherence to infection control principles.

Committee Coordination: Coordinate Infection Control Committee meetings, prepare agendas, and ensure meeting minutes meet regulatory standards.

Surveillance & Reporting: Utilize surveillance data to identify infection control issues and develop action plans; document and report hospital-acquired infections according to the Infection Control Plan.

Leadership & Mentorship: Oversee and mentor Infection Control Practitioners to ensure consistency in infection control practices throughout the hospital.
Required Qualifications

Education: Baccalaureate degree required; CA RN License or Degree in Epidemiology.

Experience: Proven experience in infection prevention in an acute hospital setting.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of patient care practices, microbiology, asepsis, disinfecting/sterilization, adult education theory, program administration, and epidemiology.

Licensure: California RN license preferred; flexibility may be considered for candidates with extensive experience and acute hospital background.
Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $47.33 – $73.34, commensurate with experience.

Relocation Assistance: Available for qualified candidates.
