Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Warehouse IT Administrator to support and lead IT operations within a fast-paced warehouse environment. This role requires a hands-on approach, combining IT expertise with an understanding of warehouse and logistics operations. The Warehouse IT Administrator will manage network infrastructure, IoT devices, and warehouse automation systems to enhance operational efficiency, ensure data security, and optimize inventory management processes.

This is a fully onsite position where flexibility and collaboration with warehouse staff are critical, including occasional hands-on support with warehouse operations.


Key Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure Deployment

  • Deploy and maintain warehouse network design for secure and reliable connectivity of desktop systems, mobile devices, and IoT equipment.

  • Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking hardware.

  • Troubleshoot network issues with central IT teams to ensure continuous operations.

  • Manage wireless network deployment, including coverage, signal strength, and interference resolution.

Warehouse Layout and Workflow Optimization

  • Assist warehouse managers in evaluating and redesigning warehouse layouts to improve workflow and productivity.

  • Support data-driven analysis of inventory movement to minimize bottlenecks.

  • Provide guidance on warehouse management best practices and lean methodologies.

Inventory Management and System Support

  • Oversee inventory management systems to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of stock levels.

  • Train warehouse staff on automation technology usage and best practices.

  • Support integration and troubleshooting of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other logistics software.

IoT Device Management

  • Deploy, configure, and monitor IoT devices (sensors, RFID tags, scales, cameras, etc.) to support warehouse operations.

  • Analyze IoT data to inform operational decisions and improve efficiency.

Collaboration and Project Management

  • Coordinate projects across cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with warehouse and operational goals.

  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources efficiently.

  • Communicate progress, issues, and outcomes to senior management and stakeholders.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of IT administration experience, ideally in a warehouse, logistics, or large-scale operations environment.

  • Hands-on expertise in network configuration and management, including routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, subnetting, and TCP/IP protocols.

  • Experience deploying and managing wireless networks in large warehouse spaces.

  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and integration with other logistics software.

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Leadership skills to manage IT teams and collaborate with warehouse staff.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Prior experience in a warehouse, logistics operation, or military environment is a plus.

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent are highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with IoT device implementation and management is a plus.


Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work onsite in a warehouse environment.

  • Must be willing to assist with hands-on warehouse tasks, including moving pallets or assisting with bay doors when necessary.

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-volume operational settings.
