Job Description


Paramedic – Emergency Department (Full-Time)
Location: Port St. Lucie, FL
Department: Emergency Services
Pay Range: $15.00 – $20 per hour (Dependent on experience)
Shift Differential:
  • Evening (3:00pm–11:00pm): +$1.25/hour (minimum 4 hours worked)
  • Night (11:00pm–7:00am): +$2.50/hour (minimum 4 hours worked)
  • Weekend: +$1.50/hour
On-Call Requirement: None
Radius Requirement: Not required to live within 30 minutes of the facility
License Requirement: Florida Paramedic License required
Transport: This position is not responsible for 911 calls, inter-facility transfers, flight transport, or ground ambulance transport duties.

Available Shifts:
  • Day Shift: 7:00am – 7:00pm
  • Evening Shift:
    • 10:00am – 10:00pm
    • 12:00pm – 12:00am
  • Night Shift: 7:00pm – 7:00am (Rotating weekends required)

Position Summary:
The Paramedic functions as an integral member of the emergency department care team, providing advanced pre-hospital and in-hospital support under the direction of a licensed provider. This role includes basic and advanced life support interventions, direct patient care, and clinical support to nursing and physician staff in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, communicates effectively, and is committed to delivering compassionate, efficient emergency care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely and accurate advanced life support (ALS) interventions in the emergency department setting.
  • Assist with triage, trauma response, and patient stabilization under clinical supervision.
  • Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and perform procedures within scope of practice.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and clinical outcomes in the electronic health record.
  • Assist with room turnover, equipment restocking, and supply management to ensure department readiness.
  • Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and ancillary team members to ensure coordinated, quality care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment, adhering to all hospital, state, and federal regulations.

Required Qualifications:
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of full-time Paramedic experience.
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school preferred.
Licensure & Certifications:
  • Valid Florida Paramedic Certification – Required
  • National Registered Paramedic (NRP) – Must obtain within 1 year of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) – Required within orientation period

NIMS/ICS Compliance (ICS 100, 200, 700, 800) – Required within orientation period
