Patient Access Supervisor – 3rd Shift (Nights)

Location: Framingham, MA
Schedule: 100% Onsite | Night Shift
Shift Options:

  • 7:00 PM – 3:00 AM

  • 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

  • 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM

On-Call Requirement: Approximately every 5th weekend (minimal annual coverage)
Salary Range: $46,000 – $70,000 (based on experience)
Bonus: Monthly KPI bonus up to $250


Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Patient Access Supervisor for a 3rd Shift (Nights) role in a hospital environment in Framingham, MA. This position provides hands-on leadership and oversight of patient access operations during overnight hours, ensuring accurate registration, strong customer service, compliance, and readiness for day-shift operations.

The ideal candidate brings healthcare leadership experience, strong knowledge of revenue cycle and patient access workflows, and the ability to work independently while supervising staff and producing operational reports overnight.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Access & Operations

  • Provide daily guidance, mentoring, and training to new and existing Patient Access staff

  • Support all registration functions including Admitting, Centralized Scheduling, Emergency Department, and clinic registration as needed

  • Maintain a high level of customer service and assist staff with escalated patient or account issues

  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and hospital guidelines

Supervisory & Leadership Duties

  • Directly supervise 4 Patient Access team members

  • Interview, hire, train, and onboard staff

  • Assign and monitor work, evaluate performance, and address employee concerns

  • Act as part of the management team to ensure operational goals are met

Reporting & Metrics

  • Monitor nightly patient volumes (approximately 15–20 patients per night; 34-bed facility)

  • Prepare and complete performance, productivity, and financial clearance reports

  • Perform special projects and reporting assignments as needed

  • Ensure reports are completed accurately to support morning leadership and operations

Planning & Process Improvement

  • Assist with short- and long-term planning for Registration and Patient Access workflows

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies

  • Support policy development and implementation when required


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Healthcare experience required

  • Leadership or supervisory experience required

  • Strong knowledge of Patient Access operations and revenue cycle processes

  • Computer savvy with the ability to multitask and work independently

  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including Cerner Millennium / Oracle Health (preferred)

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to prepare detailed reports during overnight hours


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Medical Administration, or related field

  • 4+ years of experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related healthcare setting

  • 5+ years of Patient Access experience

  • 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and revenue cycle best practices

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods

  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Hospital environment

  • Must be available to work assigned night shifts, weekends on-call as required, and additional hours based on departmental needs
