Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Healthcare Recruiter for a hospital system in Detroit, MI. This is a contract role supporting a large medical organization. The recruiter will be expected to attend onsite recruitment or community events 3 to 4 times per month and otherwise will work remotely from home. Please note: candidates must have their own vehicle for transportation to events and meetings.
This is a high-volume, fast-paced recruiting position that requires prior healthcare recruiting experience.

Healthcare Recruiter

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Healthcare Recruiter for a hospital system in Detroit, MI. This is a contract role supporting a large medical organization. The recruiter will be expected to attend onsite recruitment or community events 3 to 4 times per month and otherwise will work remotely from home. This is a high-volume, fast-paced recruiting position that requires prior healthcare recruiting experience.
Responsibilities:

Coordinate recruitment efforts for assigned hospitals and service lines to attract and hire qualified candidates efficiently.

Maintain and optimize the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to ensure postings attract top talent.

Source passive candidates using LinkedIn, Indeed, and internal ATS databases.

Review weekly reports to identify active and upcoming needs.

Monitor and update vacancy lists regularly for hiring managers.

Communicate regularly with department leaders to verify open positions and hiring needs.

Attend onsite facility rounds using intake guides and SLAs to ensure cultural alignment and staffing strategy.

Develop recruitment strategies, including sourcing channels, niche job boards, and local events/conferences.

Screen applicants for qualifications, compensation alignment, and cultural fit.

Calculate and present salary offers; negotiate as needed.

Promote Employee Referral Programs (ERP) within units and facilities.

Represent the organization at job fairs, community events, and school fairs as a brand ambassador.
Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years of healthcare recruitment experience; experience recruiting RNs is strongly preferred.

2–3 years of full-cycle recruiting experience in a high-volume environment.

Strong candidate sourcing and internet recruiting capabilities.

Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Professional communication and client management skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and working within applicant tracking systems.

Must be comfortable lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs (e.g., materials for events).

Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.
-
Comfortable working from home but must be available to attend 3–4 in-person events or meetings per month.
