Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking experienced Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) with Open Heart (Cardiovascular) experience to support high-performing surgical teams across multiple facilities in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
This role is a critical member of the operating room team, responsible for maintaining sterile environments, preparing surgical instrumentation, and assisting in complex cardiovascular procedures. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical setting.
Key Responsibilities
Intraoperative Support
- Perform scrub duties during surgical procedures, with a focus on open heart/cardiovascular cases
- Maintain strict sterile technique and infection control standards
- Prepare and organize operating rooms, instruments, and equipment for procedures
Specialty Expertise
- Serve as a primary resource for cardiovascular surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies
- Anticipate surgeon and procedural needs to ensure seamless case flow
Supply & Equipment Management
- Prepare, track, and manage surgical instruments and supplies for cases
- Assist with decontamination and sterilization processes
- Stock and organize operating rooms to maintain readiness
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with RNs, surgeons, and anesthesia teams to support optimal patient outcomes
- Communicate effectively in a high-pressure surgical environment
On-Call Support
- Participate in on-call, weekend, and standby rotations as assigned
Required Qualifications
Education
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program required
Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in an operating room setting preferred
- REQUIRED: Open Heart (Cardiovascular) surgical experience
Certifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Key Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and sterile technique
- Highly organized with the ability to anticipate surgical needs
- Adaptable and able to perform in high-pressure environments
- Collaborative team player with strong communication skills
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: $30+/hour (based on experience)
- Entry-level CSTs start at $30/hour
- Sign-On Bonus: Available (based on experience)
Shift Options:
- Day Shift (Primary)
- 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Additional Pay Differentials:
- Weekend Differential: $2.50–$3.50/hour
- Standby/On-Call Pay: $2.50–$3.00/hour
