Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Pay Rate: $24.28–$32.41/hour
Overtime: Occasional overtime available
Relocation/Travel Support: Relocation assistance or weekly living allowance available for eligible travelers

Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking HVAC Pre-Commissioning Technicians II for direct-hire opportunities in Rayville, LA and Orlando, FL. These positions support the startup, pre-commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems on large-scale construction projects.
The HVAC Pre-Commissioning Technician II will independently perform startup activities on less complex equipment while assisting senior technicians with more advanced systems, diagnostics, and repairs. This position offers hands-on exposure to complex HVAC systems and continued technical development in areas including hydronic systems, VRF systems, chillers, copper tube brazing, and advanced troubleshooting.
The ideal candidate has 2+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC experience and holds current EPA 608, OSHA 30, and NFPA 70 certifications.
Key Responsibilities

Perform startup and pre-commissioning activities on commercial HVAC equipment and mechanical systems.

Independently start up less complex HVAC equipment.

Assist senior technicians with startup and commissioning activities for complex equipment and systems.

Gather and document equipment information, including model numbers, serial numbers, belt sizes, filter sizes, and other specifications.

Assist with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of HVAC and mechanical equipment.

Support system flushing, Testing, Adjusting and Balancing (TAB), and other pre-turnover activities.

Assist with setting pressure-reducing valves (PRVs) and preparing mechanical systems for operation.

Perform routine maintenance activities, including belt maintenance and greasing bearings and motors before turnover.

Review equipment submittals and verify installed equipment matches required specifications, including voltage, amperage, horsepower, and other technical requirements.

Follow established safety procedures and jobsite requirements.

Maintain accurate documentation related to equipment startup, inspections, testing, and repairs.

Develop technical expertise in hydronic systems, VRF systems, chiller operations, and copper tube brazing through mentorship and hands-on training.

Collaborate with senior technicians, project teams, contractors, and other onsite personnel.

Manage multiple assignments and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Work occasional overtime based on project requirements.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
-
Minimum 2 years of hands-on commercial HVAC experience, including equipment startup, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair.

At least 20 hours of HVAC/mechanical-related continuing education or technical training.

EPA Section 608 Certification required.

OSHA 30 Certification required.

NFPA 70 certification required.

Experience working with commercial HVAC equipment and mechanical systems.

Exposure to complex HVAC system concepts and troubleshooting methodologies.

Ability to read and compare equipment specifications and technical submittals.

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Ability to work 100% onsite and occasional overtime as project needs require.
