Job Title: Fire Sprinkler Designer
Location: Royse City, TX | Hybrid | Occasional Office & Client Site Visits as Needed
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: Up to $120,000 annually (based on experience)
Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer on behalf of our client. This role will support the design and implementation of fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and project specifications.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in fire sprinkler system design, proficiency in AutoCAD, and a solid understanding of fire codes, hydraulic calculations, and system components. This position offers flexibility to work hybrid with occasional office and client site visits as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed design drawings and hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems in commercial and residential buildings
- Ensure all designs meet NFPA standards, local codes, and project requirements
- Select appropriate sprinkler system components based on hazard analysis and system requirements
- Perform site surveys and field assessments to support accurate system design and installation
- Interpret fire codes, standards, and specifications to ensure compliance
- Manage and maintain project drawing files, libraries, and documentation for accuracy and organization
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and clients throughout project lifecycle
- Support installation efforts by coordinating on-site sprinkler piping and system layouts
- Prepare material lists and assist with project planning and execution
- Continuously expand knowledge of fire protection systems, technologies, and industry best practices
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical training or coursework in fire protection, engineering, or related field preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire sprinkler design
- Hands-on experience with fire protection systems, hydraulic calculations, and code compliance
Certifications:
- RME-G license required
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; willingness to learn additional design software
- Strong understanding of NFPA codes, fire protection standards, and industry regulations
- Mechanical and mathematical aptitude, including fluid dynamics concepts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Professional demeanor with strong collaboration skills
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Hybrid work environment with occasional office and client site visits
- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods
- Occasional travel, including out-of-town projects
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed
