About the Role
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking Field Service Leads for a 6-9 month contract project focused on installing camera systems on conveyors at multiple sites across the U.S. This role requires mechanical aptitude, basic wiring experience, and strong customer service skills. No IT experience is required – training will be provided for candidates with transferable mechanical skills.
Technicians will be responsible for installing Cat5 cabling and camera systems on conveyor systems, conducting site surveys and documenting installations, providing customer-facing support during system launches, and traveling extensively with all expenses covered, including flight, hotel, and per diem.
This role is ideal for candidates with construction, industrial maintenance, electrical, or field service backgrounds who are comfortable with basic wiring, assembly, and mechanical installations.

Key Responsibilities
Phase 1: Data Drop & Site Survey
- Install Cat5 internet cables to connect camera systems
- Conduct site surveys and oversee third-party contractors
- Take photos and document conveyor setups for planning purposes
- Work during normal business hours (Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM)
Phase 2: Camera System Installation
- Work alongside a Company lead and third-party vendor to install frames and cameras on conveyors
- Ensure camera positioning and wiring are correct for scanning boxes
- Maintain professional communication with onsite staff during installations
- Work during normal business hours
Phase 3: Post-Installation Support
- Return to previous sites for system testing and launch support
- Work off-hours (12 PM - 12 AM) to avoid disrupting warehouse operations
Candidate Requirements
- Mechanically inclined with experience in basic mechanical or electrical work such as assembly, wiring, or positioning hardware
- Strong communication skills and customer-facing experience
- Technically savvy with basic computer literacy and a willingness to learn new systems
- Ability to travel 60%+ of the time, including overnight stays
- Comfortable performing physical tasks such as wiring, lifting, and installing equipment
Training & Locations
Training (1-2 Weeks) Required at One of These Locations:
- Redmond, WA or Indiana
- After training, Employee will accompany technicians on their first few installs
Primary Hiring Locations (Priority Markets):
- Northeast: Philadelphia, New York, North/South Carolina, Maine
- Southern California: San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego
- Florida: Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa
- Chicago & Midwest: Cincinnati, Ohio, Michigan
- Texas: Dallas, Houston, Louisiana
Travel Expectations:
- Southern California technicians may cover Denver, Nevada, and Arizona
- Northeast technicians may cover Midwest regions
- Texas technicians may cover Dallas, Houston, Louisiana, and surrounding states
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay: $22 - $28/hour (based on location)
- All travel expenses covered, including flight, hotel, and per diem
- Monday-Friday hours for Phase 1 & 2
- Overnight or off-hours work in Phase 3

- Mechanically skilled individuals with experience in field service, construction, maintenance, or industrial work
- Customer-oriented technicians comfortable working onsite and engaging with teams
- Flexible travelers who are comfortable with extensive travel and overnight stays
Hiring Process
