Position Summary
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced EMS District Chief to provide operational leadership and oversight for emergency medical services. This role is responsible for supervising field operations, coordinating emergency response efforts, managing EMS personnel, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. The EMS District Chief plays a key role in operational performance, staff development, and compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Position Summary
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced EMS District Chief to provide operational leadership and oversight for emergency medical services. This role is responsible for supervising field operations, coordinating emergency response efforts, managing EMS personnel, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. The EMS District Chief plays a key role in operational performance, staff development, and compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide leadership and oversight to EMS field personnel and daily operations
-
Direct and coordinate emergency medical response activities
-
Ensure compliance with established EMS policies, procedures, and regulations
-
Supervise staffing, scheduling, timekeeping, and performance evaluations
-
Administer basic and advanced life support as required
-
Respond to major incidents and coordinate interagency emergency response
-
Maintain electronic patient care reports (ePCR) and operational documentation
-
Monitor staffing levels, equipment readiness, and resource allocation
-
Support quality assurance, performance improvement, and risk management initiatives
-
Participate in conflict resolution, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed
-
Assist with emergency preparedness, disaster response, and operational planning
-
Support administrative and special projects as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum Education
-
High School Diploma or GED (required)
-
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (required)
Experience
-
Minimum of five (5) years of full-time EMS experience
-
Minimum of two (2) years in a senior or supervisory EMS role preferred
-
Experience in high-volume EMS or emergency response environments required
Required Certifications and Licenses
-
South Carolina Paramedic Certification (active and in good standing)
-
Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) – must be obtained within one year of hire
-
Valid South Carolina or North Carolina Driver’s License
-
BCLS – required within seven (7) days of hire
-
ACLS – ability to obtain instructor status
-
PALS – ability to obtain instructor status
Preferred Certifications

Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C)
-
Community Paramedic Certification (CP-C)
-
AMLS, PHTLS, EPC, or PEPP

Hazardous Materials and Radiological Training

NIMS/ICS Certifications (100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800)

EMS Leadership or Management Training
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong leadership and decision-making abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage emergency operations and high-pressure situations

Knowledge of EMS operations, policies, and regulatory standards

Strong organizational and time-management skills
-
Ability to lead teams and coordinate multi-agency response efforts

Proficiency in electronic documentation and scheduling systems
Physical and Work Environment Requirements

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks

Ability to respond to emergency scenes

Ability to stand, lift, bend, and kneel as required

Ability to work in high-stress environments
