Nursing Director, Surgical Services

Location: Tucson, AZ
Schedule: Monday – Friday, Day Shift (24/7 Department Responsibility)
Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 + up to 10% AIP bonus
Relocation Assistance: Up to $8,000 reimbursement (based on distance)
Sign-On Bonus: May be considered

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Nursing Director of Surgical Services to oversee a high-volume surgical department. This role is responsible for the operational leadership of 14 operating rooms (12 active), Sterile Processing, Endoscopy, PreOp, and PACU, managing approximately 800 surgeries per month. The director will lead a team of 115 FTEs, ensuring high standards of care, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 24/7 administrative oversight of surgical services, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and department objectives.
  • Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team, focusing on staff development and engagement.
  • Maintain budgetary and fiscal accountability for the department.
  • Oversee quality initiatives, continuous improvement, and integration of services into the hospital’s core functions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, staff, and hospital leadership to enhance patient care and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.

Qualifications
  • Education:
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
  • Preferred: MSN, MPH, or MBA.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum: Five years of hospital surgical services experience, with at least three years in a supervisory role.
  • Preferred: Acute care hospital and for-profit healthcare experience.
  • Experience managing large surgical volumes is highly desired.
  • Licensure:
  • Current Arizona RN license or eligibility to obtain one (Arizona is a Compact State).
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and ability to build relationships with staff, physicians, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial and strategic planning for surgical services.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and hospital compliance.
