Director of Nursing – Long-Term Care (DON)
Location: Joshua Tree, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time | Shift: Days
Facility Size: 120 Beds
Salary: Pay Range: $135k-$195k (based on experience)
License Required: Active RN License

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and manage all clinical operations at our Continuing Care Center. This role requires a hands-on, visible leader with a proven track record of operational success and clinical quality improvement in long-term care or subacute settings.
You will work closely with the CNO/COO and leadership team to maintain regulatory compliance, achieve quality care benchmarks, and build a positive, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight for daily nursing operations
  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures aligned with Healthcare standards
  • Supervise and mentor nurse managers and clinical staff
  • Conduct daily rounds to monitor resident outcomes, staff performance, and family satisfaction
  • Attend interdisciplinary care conferences and ensure coordination of resident services
  • Prepare and manage operational and capital budgets
  • Lead quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) efforts
  • Foster collaboration with physicians, the medical director, and the acute hospital
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with state, federal, and accreditation agencies
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and manage crisis situations calmly

Required Qualifications
  • RN license in the state of California (active and in good standing)
  • Minimum 5 years of nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility (SNF), subacute, or acute care setting
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership or nurse manager role
  • Proven success in improving clinical outcomes and team performance
  • Strong staff management, leadership, and communication skills
  • Current CPR certification
  • BSN preferred, Associate’s degree in Nursing required

Physical & Working Conditions
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and computer use
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs)
  • Office-based environment with clinical oversight responsibilities
  • Some kneeling, stooping, and crouching may be required
