Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Director of PICU/Respiratory Services for a full-time, on-site leadership position in Detroit, MI. The Director will oversee pediatric intensive care and respiratory service departments, ensuring quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This position offers 24/7 responsibility for assigned departments and requires a strong background in clinical leadership within an acute care environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic and operational leadership for assigned clinical areas, ensuring delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care.

Oversee departmental staffing, budgeting, performance improvement, and compliance initiatives.

Develop and implement policies, procedures, and performance metrics aligned with hospital goals and regulatory standards.

Foster an environment of multidisciplinary collaboration and shared decision-making.

Promote staff development through ongoing training, competency assessments, and professional growth opportunities.

Monitor patient satisfaction, quality outcomes, and operational efficiency to identify and address opportunities for improvement.

Collaborate with executive leadership and clinical management on business plans, budget forecasts, and capital planning.

Ensure adherence to all applicable state, federal, and accreditation standards.
Qualifications
Education:

Master’s degree required in one of the following:
-
Nursing
-
Business Administration
-
Health Care Administration
-
Related field
-

If two degrees are held, one must be in Nursing (e.g., BSN + MSN, or BSN + MBA).
Experience:
-
3–5 years of progressive management experience in a hospital or acute care setting.

Proven leadership in budget management, staff supervision, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance.

PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or Respiratory Services experience strongly preferred.

Experience with high-acuity or critical care patient populations is highly valued.
Licensure/Certifications:

Active RN license in the state of Michigan (or ability to obtain prior to start).

Full-time, Monday–Friday schedule

Day shift with 24/7 departmental responsibility
