Desktop Support Technician & Lead – Hospital Deployment Project
Location: Downtown Seattle, WA – 100% Onsite at a Hospital
Employment Type: Contract | 4-Week Project
Project Start Date: Tuesday, September 8
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Day Shift
Pay Rate: $25.00–$28.00/hour for Technicians | Up to $31.50/hour for Lead
Openings: 7 Total | 6 Desktop Support Technicians and 1 Lead
Transportation: Reliable transportation to the downtown Seattle worksite required
Hiring Timeline: Immediate need; candidates must be available to move quickly through the hiring and hospital onboarding process
Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is urgently seeking six Desktop Support Technicians and one Desktop Support Lead for a four-week IT hardware deployment project at a hospital in downtown Seattle, WA.
These hands-on positions will support the installation, configuration, organization, and staging of workstation equipment throughout the hospital and associated clinical spaces. The team will deploy monitors, monitor arms, docking stations, keyboards, mice, cables, and other computer peripherals.
Additional responsibilities include receiving and unboxing equipment, staging hardware, completing cable management, performing basic troubleshooting, and safely transporting equipment throughout the facility.
The ideal candidates have previous experience with desktop support, desktop deployments, workstation installations, hardware refresh projects, IT equipment moves, or technical support and are comfortable working in an active hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support workstation and desktop hardware deployments throughout the hospital and associated clinical areas.
- Install, connect, and organize monitors, monitor arms, docking stations, keyboards, mice, and other workstation peripherals.
- Correctly connect power, data, display, USB, and other workstation cables.
- Complete clean, professional cable management according to customer standards.
- Receive, unbox, inventory, stage, and prepare IT equipment for deployment.
- Safely transport computer equipment and peripherals between areas of the hospital.
- Assemble and organize workstations according to established installation instructions and standardized configurations.
- Verify hardware setup and connectivity before completing each installation.
- Perform basic desktop support and hardware troubleshooting.
- Identify and report damaged equipment, missing components, hardware issues, or installation concerns.
- Maintain clean and organized deployment, staging, and work areas.
- Follow all hospital safety, security, infection-control, and project requirements.
- Work efficiently with the deployment team to complete installations according to the project schedule.
Additional Lead Responsibilities
The selected Desktop Support Lead will also be responsible for:
- Coordinating the daily activities and workload of the six-person technician team.
- Assigning deployment tasks and monitoring progress against the project schedule.
- Serving as the primary onsite point of contact for project updates, questions, and escalations.
- Ensuring workstation installations meet established quality and configuration standards.
- Troubleshooting or escalating technical and logistical issues.
- Maintaining accurate equipment, deployment, and project-completion documentation.
- Communicating staffing, scheduling, inventory, and performance concerns to project stakeholders.
- Promoting a safe, organized, and productive onsite work environment.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience with desktop support, workstation deployments, IT hardware, hardware refresh projects, office moves, or a similar technical environment.
- Experience installing and connecting monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice, cables, and computer peripherals.
- Basic understanding of workstation hardware, cables, ports, power connections, and peripheral connectivity.
- Ability to install monitor arms and complete professional cable management.
- Basic desktop support, hardware troubleshooting, and workstation setup-verification skills.
- Ability to follow detailed installation instructions, standardized configurations, and customer requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently as part of an onsite deployment team.
- Dependable attendance and availability for the full four-week project.
- Availability to begin the project on Tuesday, September 8.
- Ability to move quickly through the interview, selection, and hospital onboarding process.
- Reliable transportation to the downtown Seattle worksite.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, stage, and move IT equipment throughout the facility.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform hands-on installation work throughout the workday.
Additional Lead Qualifications
- Previous experience leading or coordinating desktop deployment technicians.
- Ability to assign work, monitor progress, and maintain project timelines.
- Strong leadership, communication, troubleshooting, and escalation-management skills.
- Experience tracking equipment, installations, and project deliverables.
- Ability to maintain team accountability and consistent installation quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting a large-scale desktop or workstation deployment project.
- Experience with IT hardware refresh, relocation, or office-move projects.
- Previous experience working in a hospital, clinic, healthcare facility, or other regulated environment.
- Desktop support or IT troubleshooting experience.
Hospital Onboarding Requirements
Because the work will be performed in a hospital and clinical environment, selected candidates must successfully complete all required onboarding and compliance requirements before the project begins. Requirements include:
- Background check
- Drug screening
- Tuberculosis testing
- MMR vaccination or required documentation
- Varicella vaccination or required documentation
- Pertussis vaccination
- Influenza vaccination
- Any additional health, vaccination, or facility-specific requirements needed for hospital access
Candidates must be prepared to provide the necessary documentation and complete all screening requirements promptly.

This individual can follow established standards, maintain consistent installation quality, troubleshoot basic hardware issues, and efficiently move between workstations while collaborating with the onsite project team.
Lead candidates should also be comfortable coordinating daily deployment activities, maintaining team accountability, resolving issues, and communicating project progress to onsite stakeholders.
