Pay Range: $100,000 – $120,000 annually (Relocation assistance may be considered)

SUMMARY
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an Assistant Engineering Manager for a leading process system integrator specializing in the design, fabrication, and delivery of custom-engineered turnkey solutions for chemical handling, water, and wastewater treatment systems.

In this role, you will support the Engineering Manager in overseeing project execution, guiding design teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of custom process systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to work in a collaborative environment serving semiconductor, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, solar, aerospace, and manufacturing industries.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and coordinate engineering design activities for water, chemical handling, and wastewater treatment projects.

  • Provide daily project updates and maintain weekly engineering schedules in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.

  • Guide teams through process design, equipment specification, and automation integration.

  • Collaborate with Production, Sales, and Field Services teams to ensure seamless project delivery.

  • Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and internal coordination sessions.

  • Monitor project budgets, timelines, and performance, implementing process improvements as needed.

  • Mentor and lead direct reports, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, operational, and regulatory standards.

  • Implement and enforce operational procedures to improve team efficiency and project outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering (advanced degree preferred).

  • 10–15+ years of experience in water, chemical handling, or wastewater treatment engineering.

  • Proven experience in turnkey packaged system design and delivery for complex industrial applications.

  • Strong project management experience with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.

  • Knowledge of pH adjustment systems, heavy metals and fluoride removal, process cooling water, filtration, ion exchange, and chemical collection/delivery systems.

  • Proficiency in industrial automation and system integration for process applications.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and safety protocols in industrial environments.
