Job Summary
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Senior Accountant for a hybrid opportunity based in San Antonio, TX. This role is ideal for a well-rounded accounting professional who is ready to take the next step into a Senior or Lead Accountant role. The position involves day-to-day accounting operations, supporting financial processes, and helping coach and support junior staff—not as a manager, but as a hands-on team leader.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports in compliance with GAAP
-
Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies
-
Process and review journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable transactions
-
Provide coaching and support to staff accountants
-
Participate in internal and external audits by preparing required documentation
-
Identify and implement process improvements across accounting operations
-
Support financial management and contribute to special projects as needed

Maintain organized and compliant financial records
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
-
Minimum of 2 years of progressive accounting experience

Looking for someone ready to grow into a Senior or Lead Accountant role

Strong MS Excel skills required (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)

Month-end close experience is required

Audit experience preferred
-
Healthcare industry experience preferred

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems is a plus

Must maintain a professional appearance and be comfortable in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Work Schedule

Hybrid Schedule: Onsite Monday through Thursday
