Job Title: Accountant
Location: Farmers Branch, TX
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (4 Days In Office / 1 Day Remote) with potential to transition to a 3 Days In Office / 2 Days Remote schedule
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Flexible)
Compensation: $80,000–$85,000 annually equivalent ($38–$40/hour)
Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an Accountant / Senior Accountant for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Farmers Branch, TX. This role will support a multi-entity organization and report directly to the Senior Controller. The successful candidate will be responsible for core accounting functions, financial reporting, account reconciliations, process documentation, and ERP optimization initiatives.
This position is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in manufacturing, distribution, retail, or product-based environments who enjoys improving processes, supporting operational efficiencies, and leveraging technology to enhance accounting workflows.
Candidates with NetSuite experience and familiarity with AI tools used for business productivity and process improvement are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.

Execute month-end and year-end close activities.
-
Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances.
-
Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.

Support financial reporting and management analysis.
General Ledger & Multi-Entity Accounting
-
Maintain general ledger accuracy and integrity.
-
Process and reconcile intercompany transactions.
-
Support multi-entity accounting activities and consolidations.
-
Review balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Cash Management & Reconciliations
-
Monitor daily cash activity and cash position reporting.
-
Perform bank reconciliations and cash account analysis.
-
Support treasury-related activities and reporting requirements.
Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable & Inventory Accounting
-
Support AR, AP, and inventory accounting processes.
-
Collaborate with operational and accounting teams to ensure transaction accuracy.
-
Review accounting transactions for proper coding and compliance.
Sales Tax Compliance

Review and reconcile multi-state sales and use tax filings.
-
Maintain compliance documentation and support tax-related audits.
Financial Analysis & Process Improvement

Prepare variance analyses, financial reports, and ad hoc reporting.

Document accounting procedures and internal processes.
-
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within accounting operations.

Support automation and technology-driven process improvements.
ERP Optimization & Systems Support

Assist with optimization and utilization of NetSuite ERP.

Develop and maintain saved searches, reports, workflows, and system enhancements.
-
Support accounting process automation and reporting improvements.
-
Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to improve productivity, reporting, and analysis.
Audit Support

Assist with annual audits, reviews, and compliance activities.
-
Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
-
Respond to auditor requests and inquiries.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Partner with accounting, finance, and operational teams to support business objectives.

Provide guidance and support related to accounting processes and best practices.
-
Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
-
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
-
Strong understanding of debits, credits, general ledger accounting, and financial statements.
-
Experience performing account reconciliations and month-end close activities.
-
Strong process documentation and process improvement experience.
-
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.

Experience working within an ERP system.
-
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
-
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications

NetSuite ERP experience strongly preferred.

Experience in manufacturing, distribution, retail, consumer products, or similar industries preferred.

Experience with multi-entity and intercompany accounting.

Familiarity with multi-state sales and use tax compliance.
-
Experience utilizing AI tools to improve accounting workflows, reporting, or operational efficiency.

Experience supporting accounting process automation initiatives.
