Senior Data Engineer
Location: Remote - Tampa, Florida
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $140,000 - $170,000 + 10%Â bonus
Overview: Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and implement high-performance, scalable data solutions that align with the company’s data strategy. This role will provide leadership in data architecture development and drive the creation of API frameworks to integrate data across customer-facing and back-office applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering and a proven track record of success in dynamic environments.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement high-performance, scalable data solutions.
-
Develop and enforce consistent data standards, reference architectures, and best practices for OLTP, OLAP (Data Warehouse, Data Lakehouse), MDM, and AI/ML technologies.

Lead data standardization and semantic discovery efforts, transforming insights into actionable strategies.
-
Oversee data integration and mapping processes to ensure high-quality, harmonized data.
-
Create strategies and design solutions for data migration, database optimization, and analytics projects.

Develop API frameworks for data integration across applications.
Qualifications:
-
Experience designing and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
-
5+ years of experience with NoSQL systems (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB), relational SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), and Athena.
-
5+ years of experience developing data pipelines, ETL processes, and handling structured and unstructured data.
-
Proven expertise in real-time, large-scale stream processing using Apache Flink or Apache Spark, combined with messaging systems like Kafka or Pulsar.

Proficiency with data management tools and platforms, including data cataloging software and data quality tools.

Familiarity with BigQuery and SQL-based cloud solutions (e.g., SQL Mesh).

Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Advanced SQL programming skills.

Experience with API development and related frameworks.

Expertise in data quality, data lineage, and data catalog solutions.

Strong foundation in data science, machine learning, NLP, and text processing for large data sets.

Familiarity with tools such as Dataiku, DataRobot, Databricks, or UiPath is a plus.

Proficient in version control systems like Git.

Ability to adapt to evolving business processes and rapidly changing priorities.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

Self-starter with the ability to work independently.

Understanding of legal, compliance, and regulatory considerations impacting data management.

Experience in the financial industry is preferred.
