Print Production Supervisor


Salary: $70k - $80k

Work Schedule: 3rd Shift, Monday - Friday, 10pm - 6:30am
Training Schedule: Ideally, the candidate will train on the 1st shift. 

Location: Plano, TX 75074
 

Onsite Requirements: Hybrid Schedule - 2 days onsite at the Plano office
  • Initial training period: 80-100% in-office
  • Future remote flexibility subject to performance and timekeeping

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a hands-on Print Production Supervisor to oversee the production operations for the Finishing and Press departments. The ideal candidate will come from the label, packaging, or printing industry and will be responsible for training, supervising, and ensuring the efficient operation of the production line.

Responsibilities:

Production Management:
  • Inspect plates, web, and other materials to ensure conformance to specifications and verify color match to job specs.
  • Check production schedules and ensure plates, inks, and other required materials are available in advance.
  • Direct setup and adjustments of presses with high attention to detail.
  • Maintain equipment and perform minor repairs when necessary.
  • Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for job completion.
  • Enforce safety regulations and company policies among workers.
  • Interpret specifications and job orders for workers and assign duties, establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Implement and follow Lean Manufacturing procedures and participate in Lean development and implementation committees.
  • Suggest changes to improve efficiency, reduce setup time, equipment downtime, and production scrap.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Motivate workers to achieve work goals and provide training and guidance.
  • Train new Press Operators on proper and safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain production records efficiently and organized.
  • Coordinate activities with other management team members.
  • Perform activities of workers supervised as needed.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and keep work areas clear and organized.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directly supervise personnel in the Press and Finishing departments.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • At least 5 years of related experience in production in a manufacturing environment, specifically in printing, packaging, or a similar industry.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or lead experience with a successful track record for leading teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (including pivot tables), Word, and Adobe.
  • Familiarity with Sage 100 or Sage Intact is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand and walk regularly, and lift/move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
