- Pay: $85,000 - $100,000 per year with bonus eligibility
- Schedule: Fully onsite, Monday through Friday

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a talented Tax Manager for a direct hire position with our client. This role is based in Lubbock, TX and requires fully onsite work. The Tax Manager will work closely with senior leadership to provide exceptional service to clients while guiding and supporting team members. Responsibilities will be tailored to the department the manager primarily oversees.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the main point of contact for client accounts, ensuring projects are completed on time and client expectations are met.
- Respond to client inquiries, offering solutions and maintaining excellent communication.
- Collaborate with internal teams on tax-related assignments and accounting tasks.
- Prepare and review a variety of tax returns (individual, corporate, partnership) with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Cultivate strong client relationships and offer tax planning and estate planning advice.
- Oversee client accounting services, ensuring all financial activities are managed effectively.
- Proactively identify opportunities for additional services and communicate updates to clients.
- Contribute to firm-wide advisory efforts by providing input and guidance on business solutions.
- Assist in the review and management of billing and work-in-progress reports alongside other leadership.
- Ensure confidentiality and safeguard sensitive client information.
- Mentor and coach team members, providing guidance on their professional development.
- Suggest process improvements and contribute to optimizing firm operations.
- Occasional travel to client locations using personal transportation may be required.
- Expect extended work hours during peak tax season.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA certification highly preferred.
- Must be willing to work onsite, Monday through Friday.
- Prior experience working in a public accounting firm.
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Proficient in QuickBooks (both online and desktop versions).
- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and tax basis accounting (cash and accrual).
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a client-first mindset.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
